Anna Young,

M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. Please reach out for a free consultation session to see if I am a good fit for your needs.

I offer free 15-minute consultation sessions to determine if I am a good fit for your needs in seeking counseling. My rate is $130 for individual 50-minute counseling sessions and $150 for 50-minute couples counseling sessions. I have a sliding scale based on income available by request.

Are you are going through a major life transition, looking to develop your self-awareness and self-esteem, or seeking tools to cope with depression and anxiety? I work with clients who have experienced trauma, panic attacks, grief, loss, and interpersonal/relationship/communication issues. I work to develop your coping strategies and provide you with the tools you need to get you on the path to healing and being the best version of yourself. I also work with couples looking to deepen or repair connection, resolve conflict, strengthen communication, and build secure attachment skills.

My path to becoming a counselor has been rather unconventional. I received my B.A. in Psychology from Agnes Scott College and pursued a M.A. and PhD. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Connecticut. For the last several years I have been working as a research consultant on government health contracts as well as teaching undergraduate and graduate-level psychology courses. I found myself wanting a role with a more personal connection in the mental health field and made the decision to change career paths in 2022 to become a counselor. I live in Decatur with my partner, daughter, dog, and four cats.

  • My goal is to provide affordable and accessible therapy for those seeking counseling. My values align with intersectional and multicultural approaches, specifically aligning with the strengths-based approach of feminist theory. I also integrate CBT techniques and mindfulness into my practice. I view the therapeutic relationship as egalitarian and want the process to be as transparent as possible.
